How can you adapt as an SEO with the changes happening to Google Search

We know that SEO professionals have often relied on Google Search to get the most amount of traffic for their websites or apps. However, it is also a fact that not everything lasts and the same goes with Google Search as well. Recently, Google’s June 2019 Core update has caused serious problemsfor many major websites.

Also, Because Google is now moving away from being a Search company to a service-focused one, we will see some changes being made to its Search product too. Although Google Search is not going anywhere at the moment, Google is targeting its Search more towards ads.

If you are someone who is looking to move away from Google Search but not away from Google, you should have a look at Google Discover. Google Discover is not a new product at all but the engagement on Discover from Google has been steadily improving.

Also, Google brought Discover to its homepage and we know Google is accessed by Millions every day which means that visibility increases immensely when it is on the homepage. Apart from that, the update brought features such as topic headers, images, videos and other evergreen content to be visible on Google Discover.

This means that you can also post evergreen content and not just fresh content. On the hindsight, you would often be told that you need to post fresh content if you need to be on top of Google Search.

According to a study, 70% of YouTube watch time is because of the recommendations that its content recommendation engine gives and Google Discover is also one such platform. It offers users unique content according to their interests and recommends content that they are most likely to read. At the moment, Google Discover is nowhere near the 70% response rate like YouTube but it is still great for a new product.

Google Discover might currently have a rate of 5% for people reading content that its engine recommends. However, it is great even if it has 10% success rate in recommending the right content for the right audience. This also means that you do not have to rely much on SEO and can still get the traffic that you need.

This will also remove the need to search for relevant keywords because content gets recommended to you rather than you searching for the same as seen on Google Search. Now, we believe that this is the future of your SEO strategy and you need to place your content on Google Discover as early as possible to take its advantage.
